Amusing Us Blogpost- 98

(Hello, it’s been a while I have penned anything for the blog, I have written many things but not worth sharing, in other words I am under the spell of writer’s block. Rather lazy syndrome as I don’t feel like doing anything. My finals are a step away and my interest from studies has vanished. Do I regret? Not one tiny bit. I had plans to write blogposts on my three trips to complete a century of my writing in month of May. But as you can see I have been negligent towards the cause. But I made a promise to myself that I would write at least one post a month. So after lot of motivation and concentration I will write about my first and only one day trip to amusement park with my classmates. If you find no photographs today, please understand my internet is troubling me and I am not in mood to stay awake whole night to upload pictures I will put them up later. But I promise the blog will go for a major change and it will be more active after my exams get over. For now the 98 th blo...

The Frustrated me

When I was taught the first alphabets I had realised that education and me we would never be on friendly terms. I learned words, forgot half of them and eventually I was put to most elite school of the city. Among elites I was the fool, I struggled with words their pronunciation and spellings which I still do. I got scolded in class for being inattentive, beaten up in home for returning with half done work. I would get pointed out by teachers for my shitty handwriting which in polite language would be illegible. I always got the highest rank from bottom which often provoked me to hide my marksheets and report card; over all my education life has been a pathetic one except for my wonderful two year stay at BRPL Vid. If I had my way I would erase all my memories till grade fifth. In less than three months I shall be graduating, if my calculations are right with an average of 8.2 GPA and most probably having a place in top three in my department. When I joined English Honours I ...

Really all for Thy Name?

(Was written on 8th March 2014, but due to internet problem I am publishing it today. So I won't change the unrefined mood in this piece of writing its the first hand chronicle of my feelings. Warning may sound repetitive and boring to few so don't scroll down {Yes Elder Sister Its meant for you, so don't read} ) I who had refrained from having any emotional attachment with my Pink College was dragged to college today by my walking mate. In this hateful relationship with my college I had taken the side of ignorance and remained in home, so after one month of abandoning my college life and zero attendance I was forced to attend my classes since last Wednesday. Today for first time in history of our college, Pink College had done something exceptional and has earned my rare appriciation.  On the occasion of International Women’s Day, our college celebrated this so called special day by screening an American-Persian collaborated Film The Stoning...

The Indian Prom

American teenage rom-com movies end with the chase to prom night. The night which appears to be all about dancing and glitters, all the girls are in beautiful gowns and boys in tuxedos. They take limos to enjoy the time of their lives. Alas nothing of this sort happens in India other than in Kjo’s movies. Colleges in our state are hell bent to turn into a puritan allegory, so from this context prom night is a far away dream in Indian reality. Still we have our share of romantic day where we can all be beautiful and pumped to the heights. It’s not a prom night but a day to worship the goddess of wisdom. Basant Panchami is celebrated throughout the country, somewhere in more glory and others in delight. On this day my state and other states of East India celebrate Saraswati Puja. Luckily this day is not exclusive to senior year students of high-school, but an event celebrated by all. From a tyke to old lady celebrate the grace of goddess. This day is also known as the Indian Vale...

why elopement????

The word ‘marriage’ seriously needs some discussion with today’s youth. Another batch mate of mine eloped and got married few days back. I as good friend did what I do best ‘yell’ at her. I shouted at her for being so reckless and stupid just when exams are digging over grave. Our semester finals are a week away and this young lady eloped. When I was small I use to think marriage was what parents decide for you as you grow up. After sometime I realized there was more to it.  There was so called Love marriage and Arrange marriage. Arrange marriage rules in our family mostly, occasional love marriages have taken place too. My free spirited sister to gladly had arranged marriage.  But when I joined my beloved school BGR vid, we found many folds to “simple Arrange marriage” and “simple Love marriage”. Now I am utterly disappointed with both.  I seriously think this institution needs many guidelines for the eloping love struck creatures. My batch mate, let’s call h...

Print A Smile

On 14th of this month one of my wildest dream came true, yet I didn't feel happy the way I should. The dream was to have my photograph appear in newspaper. This twist of fate happened in an Assamese Daily but I failed to get the thrill when I bought my copy. On 10th March, late morning my door bell rang, there was this romantic junior of mine. He came without a warning and very next moment we were in my room downstairs. I knew he was approached by our Philosophy Professor to write out something for the Assamese daily. He had to write it out with five other people from Pink College. So this was a Pink College project and I wanted to stay away. But junior Poet is a boy of enthusiasm and madness. So unwillingly I became handcuffed to this young man's madness. So our whole afternoon was spent writing and dialing the number of the confused Sub-editor. With every moment passing we realised that the topic was unclear and really out of our reach. First we were given...

Feeling Norgay - Hillary

I often wonder how do real mountain climbers feel, when they reach the peak of the mountain. I felt like Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary after my little self created and self imposed adventure rather attempts to adventure. On 18th of these month, that's ten days back, we had our college field work for our subject Environmental Studies. The trip was to take place on 16th but due to bandh it was postponed. So on the appointed day the lazy me woke up at 6am. We were to reach Pink College by 9.30. my walking partner, the green page friend was there in front of my home by 9. We reached college and found  in this group we had  minority of girls compared to the second group which was all girls group. Three rickety buses were standing. Off course the boys grabbed the better two. My walking mate and me, were the first to climb the old bus, but as fate had it due to our greedy nature for window seat, we ended up in a seat with three people and far from window. We...
