Book Review: Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan

Book Review: Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan Quote: He leans in and kisses. He says he's missed me too. I know this is right. I know he's not going to be amazing all the time, but there's more amazingness in him than in anyone else I've known. He makes me want to be amazing too. June was an interesting month, I read up various kinds of books from non-fiction to rom-com to writing for children despite my lack of reviews here. I wanted to do a pride month reading list, but I got occupied. So I want to end the month with an LGBTQIA book. Paul grew up gay in a town that's accepting, where the gender boundaries have blurred. The homecoming queen is star Quarterback and a drag-queen by day. Paul is popular, loved and has two best friends Joni the quintessential girl best friend prone to fall for red-flag boys, and Tony a gay boy living with his conservative family. And there is Kyle Paul's ex-boyfriend Paul meets Noah in a bookstore, a newbie sophom...

Procrastination

Idle brain is devil’s workshop, an idiom that has stuck to my mind since I was a tyke and was trying to hammer something innocent. My grandfather was the one who used it, it was one of those rare moments when my scatterbrain would register things at one go. I have used this idiom on numerous occasions to describe destructive and lazy brains. Someone who was once very dear to me loved playing destructive god, they would use their tiny head to bring calamities down because their mind was bored. Another of my friend in idleness thought her hand was canvas and would draw on them with needle, eventually they stopped when geometrical compass was inserted in the palm by a good soul. Few of my ‘creative’ friends love dwelling in depressing thoughts and try to churn out negative capability which Keats may have propagated. This idleness seizes everyone once in their life, I have seen idleness kill ambition, another friend of mine is yet to figure what he wants ...

Boy in Red pumps.

(Happy belated New Year! and the first blog post should begin with Twisted Tales)  I have decided to draw my own images as googling is time consuming & I am not an artist. Best thing about sudden vacations is, people can take small trips to rejuvenate their scrambled and scattered spirits. When these battered creatures get magical three days to escape university, they whoosh past their backpacks and run home to re-nourish their starved body and souls. While some vacations are gift from the divine, some vacations come into life of people as double edged swords. Instead of rejuvenating to glorious beauty, one ends up being errand boy, a job that befalls with birth under right stars on wrong night. One particular battered soul, decides that expensive unhealthy junk food is a must for the system after living on green tea and hot-chocolate diet for a month, when the news of sudden vacation breaks out. This particular creature could never escape the all reaching...

Hobo Diary- 2 (Hairy) No-Trim November

#NoShaveNovember Last year when I was tweeting randomly, which I tend to do every now and then when I am super bored or drunk on queer rights, I found an interesting picture one of my tweeter followers had tagged me failing to identify my gender. It was an image of a standalone mass of hair, which reminded of Hagrid without a real facial outline and below I found the hashtag No-shave November. Without knowing the meaning, I forwarded the image to all my male buddies. As a result, few of them got interested in it and after reading about it on Wikipedia I figured what this celebration of beard was for. Which I assume most of us know it’s about spreading awareness about Male Cancer and Sexual Health, and you donate the money you saved without shaving for a month. By fifteenth of that month a year back, whole internet (people on my social media platform) was crazy, the men population, to be particular and many of my boyfriends were walking with their dark unkempt mane. ...

Siesta Girl's tea cup.

Attempted Flash Fiction:- belongs to rightful owner, PC- Google There are days when I fall under spells; today was one freshly lit afternoon that had charmed me. I was seated on my coarse blue seat and looking out of the window. I was under two spells. My feet rested on the empty seat opposite to mine, my black slippers cowering under its vacant space in the shadows. The green outside was rushing past my vision and the sunlight was making it hard for my eyes to keep staring outside for long. It was one of those days when rain had wiped off the dirt from sky and the smell of wet earth was numbing all other senses except the olfactory glands. My fellow passenger on right was fast asleep; her toes curled in dreams, her knees pulled to her swollen chest and her face half hidden in white dupataa, blocking the sunlight. As the train kept gushing on her tracks, I saw her body getting swayed softly on the blue berth. The mauve kurta and jeans she was in highlighted her outlin...

Fool I shall be....

Hamlet said ‘Words Words and Words’ I would say Discourse Discourse and Discourses. All of a sudden my life is a reaction that is created between two separating atoms. The Other that was never conscious in me has began to challenge my alter ego. My simple carefree life has become complex all with change of location. I was a female once, I became a feminist female years later, I became an out and proud queer person, I have no accent, I have no mother tongue, I have no location. Am I a cosmopolitan or am I the eternal other that brings chaos to world? I feel like Hamlet a fool on the stage of world theater. Few days back I called the most important man in my life barking out all my problems and trouble on to his ears. The conversation with him made me realise with each passing day, I am gaining moments of epiphanies. These epiphanies are true to their name, they neither make me happy nor sad. They simply produce another thought process in my mind.  A shared train jour...

love and words..

Family is the basic unit of society- is something we learn in four walls of classroom and understand in our homes.  A single human with help of her family and friends grows bonds in to wide network of connections. Of all societal terms the most complex term in the world is 'Relationship'. A word that gains lots of prefixes and adjectives and gets more layers with time. An average human life has numerous bonds with living organisms and non living things. Plenty get married, some marry their work, some worship their cell phones. Few have affair with god, thousands become parents while other stick to pets. We create an intrinsic network where we balance our life between alive and lifeless. The constant linchpin is our motion of life that keeps lifeless and life-filled engaged.  Today we complete three years of our blog, like many of us know the purpose of this blog was vague. My only aim to write this blog was to complain about life. Only promise I made to this ...

Recluse in the hills Blogpost- 99

(Finally my graduation exams are dealt and forgotten and I am hooked with world cup. Today we present blogpost 99 of the travel series. This is about the short trip which my elder sister treated me with, before exams. Since you have read I was so frustrated and irritated that it compelled my sister and brother-in-law to treat me to a pleasure trip. We took this short trip to Darjeeling, the world famous hub of tea) After the general elections on 24 th April, my sister and me we were seated on the train to our destination Darjeeling. This trip was something of a secret mission on part of my elder sister and mom. As we took this trip in whispers, my maternal grandmaD and grandpaD were misinformed and kept in dark. To them we were going to Phuntsholing for picnic. My sister who is apple of the eye for my grandparents lied to them like Yudhirster lied to Guru Dron for my sake. We reached Shiliguri station early in the morning and soon we were in our private taxi a...
