Book Review: Shard by Megan Stevenson

Book Review: Shard by Megan Stevenson (Webtoon link at bottom)

Quote: Fate is a cruel, cruel mistress.
Sure, she can be fulfilling and generous...but mostly just lures you into a false sense of purpose and direction in life...and in one instant takes it all from you.
Leaving you in a situation where you really have to sit back and wonder just how the hell you got there
.

Shay a rebellious and overpowered witch needs to perform a complicated spell, to reunite with her lover. She has all the ingredients for a spell, except one, she needs a 'Virgin adult'. In this modern world, where does a witch find one such creature?
One she stumbles upon thanks to her roommate! Kieran is that 'Virgin' a geologist, who is not so innocent and has his own plans. While the Witch Coven is looking for Shay, her twin and soulmate Nikhil is brewing his own plot in the Demon World.
The story was very refreshing, there are many subplots that crafts the main plot, the parallel story of Dean and Lance of coming in terms with their own attraction towards each other was beautiful. Liz trying to help her brother Kieran but never losing her sensibility. I loved how each character was not helpless, in their own limited way they try to help Shay and Kie, and themselves. Iri creating love potion for Dean and Lance was sweet, and Daisy being protective of Kie was lovely. And the Demon Lords storyline was poetic justice. But what won my heart was the sub-subplot of Trish.
The familiar cats: Gin and Tonic with their sarcasm made this common world not so common. The power struggle in the underworld and the Coven's own members getting fatigued of battles was smart. Not all who are powerful want to fight or not all weak are meek. Vatsuki and the other demons shape-shifting their sex was an interesting concept, creatures of desires can be a anything they want.
The art style is something I absolutely love: colourful, detailed and to the point. Nothing is excess, glimpses into the various worlds but doesn't give away too much. The favourite panels ( panels are not a thing of webtoon) was the waltz under blood moons! Shay broom racing! Demon Lord and Shay lovemaking! There was a bit of fan service too as Shay doesn't believe in pants.

Momas'Day

As the month of May creepily entered my calendar,, I realized something was special... Well the Mothers Day entered my to-do-list...  I thought I was the only dearest daughter in the world who cared for her mother... But again my illusion was broken, by good major mates... Both of my major mates were also anxious about this one day...  First we got confused when the actual day was, some one said 1st may, other  8th may... But after all whats my dear Google for?? We found the date It was 13th May,, the second Sunday of may... So sitting in our Philosophy Exam hall, we three started discussing what to gift our dearest mothers,,, but to our surprise it was not only we three but many others who wanted to gift their mom,,. Hence the discussion broke out, one mate said she had already gifted her mother a Saree worth three thousand bucks... Now we all got dumbstruck by the selfless act and realized how shameless we were only gifting o...
